Please read through our guest post guidelines and expectations before submitting an article for consideration.
- PREFERRED LENGTH: 900+ words; no more than 1,500 words
- TOPICS: Resume Writing, Interviewing, Job Search, LinkedIn, Networking, and Self-improvement
- ORIGINALITY: Articles must contain new and original ideas and offer value to the readers. Double-check that we have not already published an article covering your idea. Bring a unique perspective to the topic you are writing about. Work you did not write is unacceptable. A previously published article with just a few updates or additions is also unacceptable.
- SOURCES: Only include reliable sources, and provide a link to all original sources for quotes and statistics.
- INTERVIEWS: Please run potential interviewees by us prior to scheduling an interview on your own especially if the person is notable or well-known. Please indicate in the piece that the article is based on an interview to validate original reporting.
- AFFILIATE/PROMOTIONAL CONTENT: Do not include any affiliate links or content promoting yourself, your products/service, your blog/website, or your affiliates/partners within the article's content. Contributors who violate this policy will be barred from publishing in our network.
We reserve the right to reject your article for any reason without explanation. If your piece is riddled with typos and/or factual errors, it will not be accepted.
16-Point STYLE gUIDE:
- Serial commas: his, hers, and theirs -- not his, hers and theirs.
- Commas and periods always go inside the end quote marks.
- No double spaces after periods.
- Single quotes belong only around quotes within quotes.
- Don’t put URLs in parentheses and expect us to link them. Put in your own hyperlinks.
- An ideal paragraph length is two to three sentences.
- “Percent” is used as a word. Never use %, except in charts.
- Add subheading, bullets, and lists to break up long blocks of text.
- Don’t use links in subheadings. Use them only in your text.
- Don’t capitalize the words in subheads, after the first word.
- A company or organization or government agency is an “it,” never a “they.” For the possessive pronoun, when you refer to possession by a single person or company, use “its,” not “their.” Similarly, when you write about a company’s web audience, mention “the audience’s members” before saying “them.” An audience is not a “them.”
- Be consistent with pronouns: If you start with the pronoun “you,” stick with it. Avoid mixing “we,” “I,” “he/she” and “you” all in the same article.
- Be consistent with verb tenses throughout the article. Remember that the present perfect tense (“That company has followed the same policy for years”) expresses ongoing action.
- Avoid repeating the same words, points, and themes.
- Numbers under 10 are written out (unless appearing with the word “percent.”) Numbers 10 or higher are written as numerals (unless they start a sentence). Years are always expressed with numerals.
- If you must use jargon, particularly abbreviations and acronyms nobody else knows, spell these out on the first reference (followed by the abbreviation in parentheses).
By-line / Author profile:
Submit a short bio exceeding no more than 2-3 sentences and a high-quality headshot. For your bio, please do not use overly promotional or personal language. You may provide your company's name, the city of your company's headquarters, and a link to your company's website.
Contributors should expect to receive a response within 5-7 business days. If you have not heard from us after 10 business days, your article was likely rejected.
Accepted articles will likely require revisions, and we will provide suggestions to improve your article in alignment with our brand.
Once the article is approved, we will send an email notifying you of your scheduled publication date. You will also receive an email alert when your article is published.
